Good company

Two teams, one goal: spend the afternoon giving back with a spotlight on sustainability.

System1 and Google Cloud met up in Venice this month to help clean the busy beach area in partnership with Heal The Bay.

The environmental nonprofit has worked for decades to make LA beaches and waterways cleaner and safer.

We grabbed buckets, gloves, tally cards and then split into groups, fanning out across the beach to pick up trash from the sand.

Together, we removed nearly 50 pounds of trash and more than 1,000 cigarette butts from the beach! ?

Sustainability Focus

After weighing the trash collected on the beach, our teams walked over to Google’s Venice office and spoke with Denise Pearl, who shared what their company has done and wants to do around sustainability.

Fun, food & sustainable art ♻️

The afternoon included time to mingle with live music, food and drinks (reusable water bottles were handed out to avoid single-use plastics).

An incredible group of local artists who focus on sustainability also attended the event. Their artwork included reclaimed and reinvented surfboards that could’ve otherwise ended up in landfills.

A big thanks to the Heal the Bay team for facilitating a successful beach clean up!
